Our Patron, St Dominic Savio
Malaïka means “angel” in Kiswahili. Our patron, St Dominic Savio, was a young pupil of St John Bosco. He is remembered for his kindness, his faith and the care he gave to everyday duties — an example for every child in our school.
His portrait is painted on the wall of our school.
Born at Riva, near Chieri, in Piedmont, Italy.
Becomes a pupil of St John Bosco at the Oratory in Turin.
Dies at home in Mondonio, aged 14.
Canonised by Pope Pius XII. His feast day is 6 May.
Our Crest & Motto
Our crest shows a rising sun and an open book marked A and Z on a blue shield, crossed by the name of the school. Beneath it is our motto, which means excellence in educating the whole child.
